Incredible! Unprecedented! Who knows if such an incident has ever happened before in competitive cricket. Al-Amin did that today. This pacer playing for UCB-BCB XI picked up five wickets in one over against Abahani in Sylhet today. Later UCB-BCB XI won the match by 2 wickets courtesy of captain Tamim Iqbal’s 61 runs.

That was Abahani’s last over. Abahani scored 141 runs for 5 wickets in 19 overs. 5 wickets in hand. Abahani’s aim must have been to storm off and score as many runs as possible in the last over. Instead, they are caught in a tornado called Al-Amin.

Earlier, Al-Amin, wicketless with 15 runs in 3 overs, made Mehdi Maruf caught by Arafat Sani in the first ball of that over. Two runs off the second ball. It was not yet understood what was going to happen in the last four balls. Nazmul Milon got out on the third ball of the over, Suhrawardy Shuvo on the fourth ball, Naeem Islam Jr on the fifth ball. It was a hat trick. But there was still Al-Amin’s wicket-hunger. Nabil Samad is out on the last ball of the over. Four consecutive balls four wickets! In terms of cricket, it is called ‘double hat trick’. Only one person – Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga – has the double hat-trick feat in international cricket.

Although this achievement of Al-Amin is not in international cricket, but what he did, even Malinga could not do it. Picked up wickets in five of the six balls of the over! All five batsmen were dismissed in the same way. Caught by the fielder. At the end of 19 overs, the score of Abahani was 141 for 5 wickets, they were all out for 143 runs in the end! All together, Al-Amin took 5 wickets for 17 runs.

The victory of UCB-BCB XI was not easy either. Although it seemed that they would get an easy victory. At the end of 18 overs, their score was 131 for 5. They needed 13 runs from 12 balls with 5 wickets in hand. But they lost 3 wickets in the next 5 runs. In the end, Tamim’s team won by 2 wickets with 1 ball to spare. Tamim hit six fours and two sixes on the way to 61 off 52 balls. But the hero of victory is Al-Amin.

It would have been even more surprising that he was not the man of the match after such an incredible event!
